Now tell me, if no other country wants them, why should we take them? Why were they locked up in the first place if they were -not- involved with terrorist activities? What a mess, and disgrace. If they were suspected of being terrorists they should have been tried and convicted, or sent back to their country of origin if innocent and perhaps compensated for "false imprisonment" in a speedy fashion. What did the Feds do, just lock them up in Guantanamo on the premise they MIGHT be involved in terrorism? Leave them there what, indefinitely and let the next adminstration figure out what to do with them? Stupid, stupid, stupid. As Napoleon's Foreign Secretary would have remarked "It was worse than a crime it was a blunder..." I have not been one to criticize the Bush administration as I saw enough of that going around and I gave him the benefit of thhe doubt that he was doing what he felt was in US interests and to protect against another attack. But locking people up without trial in Guatanamo was just fucking moronic. How did a Chinese group of Muslims come into US custody I would like to know? Were they fighting in Afghanistan? If we, as a nation felt they were enough of a threat to capture them and incarcerate them for 7 years, why should we care about sending them back to China and the "persecution" they would face there? I really don't think the last 7 years would classify as "country club living" while in captivity in US custody. It makes NO SENSE. Vive le guillotine. A la lanterne....
